Aston’s crossover won’t be a Benz in disguise

The ceo of Aston Martin, Andy Palmer, told Automotive News Europe that the DBX crossover probably wouldn’t be based on a Mercedes Benz platform.

The obvious platform choice was the Mercedes GL, but according to Palmer it feels just too SUV-like to be used in an Aston Martin. It wants the DBX to be more of a crossover, in other words, it still wants it to handle like and Aston Martin should.

This means Aston Martin will likely use a modified platform from one of the models in its current or upcoming range.

The DBX is expected to make its public debut in 2019.
